What is the basic knowledge of LCD?

11.14.2023

LCD in our life a lot of time can see, in some important occasions are lack of little. So what do we know about LCD basics?

1. Resolution

Resolution is a very important indicator of performance. It refers to the number of points (lines and planes on the screen are made of points) that can be displayed horizontally and vertically on the screen. The higher the resolution, the more information can be contained in the same screen. Both the 320 by 240 resolution and the 240 by 128 resolution are perfectly displayed. Because the two are not much different, but the maximum resolution is not necessarily the most appropriate resolution, if the contents of the 320*240 LCD used in the 240*128 LCD, the display content will be smaller.

2. The visible area of LCD

Refers to the part of the display area that can be used to display images in practical applications. The full size is actually the size of its frame and PCB board, and the part that can be used to display the image does not reach this size at all, because the frame takes up some space. Generally speaking, the 5.7-inch 320240 LCD display area is 122*92mm, while the 5-inch 240128 LCD display area is 114*64mm. However, for LCD, the nominal size is basically the size of the visual area, and the space occupied by the frame is relatively small. The display area of 5.7's 320240 LCD is 122*92mm. So choose LCD screen, choose suitable for their own equipment on the line.

3. Reaction speed

The unit of time used to measure reaction speed is the millisecond (ms), which is the time it takes for a pixel to go from light to dark and from dark to light. The smaller the number, the better. The smaller the number, the faster the reaction. At present, the reaction speed of mainstream LCDS is above 1-2ms, which has little to do with general industrial use.

4. Color

Speaking of color, there are generally three colors: white words on blue background/black words on white background .

This knowledge is still basic, and there is still much to learn about LCDS.
