The reasons for the color difference of LCD screens produced in different batches

10.07.2023

1. The batch nature of LED (backlight):

The light source inside the backlight is a single LED lamp bead. The white light of the LED is composed of the three primary colors of RGB. There is no LED that emits white light alone. The wavelength of white light is 0.28~0.32 in the X direction, and 0.27~0.31 in the Y direction. The left or right value will cause the LED optical reaction to directly cause a small change in the display effect of the liquid crystal panel. Therefore, different batches of LEDs will emit slightly different colors.

2. Polarizer:

Polarizer is an optical film made of multi-layer polymer materials and has the function of generating polarized light. According to its use position in the LCD screen, it can be roughly divided into two types: surface film and negative film. Mainly, polarizing layer, TAC layer, adhesive, peeling film, protective film, reflective film, polarizing film will refract different colors at different angles, the display effect will be different, so different batches of production of polarizing film , and each production of different batches, the rotation angle of polarizing film is different, will affect the final effect.

3. Voltage:

Since the voltage of the glass substrate fluctuates ±0.5V between batches, we try to adjust the output voltage during the production process, but it is difficult to achieve complete consistency, so we usually suggest our customers to add a function to adjust the contrast in the software or hardware.

As you can see, different batches of LCDs show different results and are related to various aspects. As a manufacturer, SINDA display will help customers to take these factors into account and reduce product variability.
