The difference between serial port LCD screen and parallel port LCD screen, everyone has heard of serial port screen and parallel port screen, so do you know the difference between the two? The following is a brief description of the difference between serial and parallel LCDs from five aspects.

Writing Speed:

The LCD display is composed of each pixel, and the structure above the serial LCD screen and the parallel LCD screen determines the operation speed of these pixels. The writing speed of the parallel port LCD screen is determined by the speed of the upper MCU, the faster the upper MCU, the shorter the writing time.

The serial port LCD screen has nothing to do with the speed of the upper microcontroller, but is mainly related to the baud rate of the serial port.

Display Color:

The performance of the upper microcontroller determines the choice of parallel port LCD. The 8-bit microcontroller is suitable for 256-color display, and the 16-bit and 32-bit microcontrollers can reach 65K colors.

The color displayed on the serial port LCD screen has nothing to do with the upper microcontroller, generally 65K colors.

Application Scenarios:

The serial port LCD screen is suitable for products with colorful and complex display texts, and the performance of the host computer is not high.

Parallel LCD screen is suitable for products with simple interface, real-time data acquisition and display, and high-speed drawing.

System Structure:

Serial LCD screen mainly includes serial communicator, Flash controller, liquid crystal display controller, SDRAM controller, bus controller, etc. 

Accept the instructions sent by the host computer through the serial port, and execute the corresponding display operation after translation. Pictures and fonts are stored in Flash in advance and can be called directly.

The parallel port LCD screen is mainly composed of LCD controller, SDRAM controller, parallel port controller, etc. The agreed data sent to the parallel port is temporarily stored and displayed under clock control, that is, what information is sent to me will display what content.

Cost Price:

The price of the parallel port LCD screen is cheaper than that of the serial port LCD screen.
