What's the difference between an LCD screen and an LED screen?

11.08.2023

1. LCD luminous principle is mainly rely on the backlight layer, usually caused by a large number of LED backlight, color through the backlight layer plus a layer of color film, finally through the liquid crystal layer, by changing the size of the two voltage to control the arrangement of liquid crystal molecules, finally adjust the ratio of red, green and blue; OLED doesn't need a backlight layer like AN LCD screen, or a liquid crystal layer that controls the amount of light it produces. It shines spontaneously, so it's like a screen with an infinite number of small, colorful light bulbs.

2. Due to the difference in display principle, LCD screen is thicker and heavier than OLED, which is especially obvious in portable devices requiring light and thin body such as mobile phones.

3. due to the LIQUID crystal layer and backlight layer, LCD screen is impossible to achieve large bending, if the mobile phone made of curved screen or flexible screen can only be made through OLED technology, the application range of OLED screen is obviously wider;

4. In contrast, thanks to the spontaneous light characteristic of OLED, the contrast ratio is better than THAT of LCD. Because of the existence of backlight layer, LCD is difficult to show pure black;

5. With the same characteristic of spontaneous light, OLED consumes less power and can independently control the light and turn off;

6. LCD screen as long as the brightness of the backlight plate white light can easily improve the screen brightness. However, because OLED screen emits light by itself, OLED generally adopts PWM dimming mode, which will cause screen flicker.
