1、Mounting

OLED installation is usually done in 3 ways:

(1) Because it is relatively thin, so usually double-sided adhesive or foam adhesive can be glued to the PCB.

(2) If the security requirements are high, you can put a layer of iron frame around the screen, and use the iron frame to press the OLED on the PCB.

(3) Do the structure when the remaining OLED slot.

2、The FPC Bending

FPC can usually be bent, but can not be folded too much, often encounter first-time customers to design the FPC right angle folded over the welding or plugging, resulting in - after a period of time FPC poor contact leading to no display messy display, etc., so when bending - must take into account the remaining space.

3、Power Supply

OLED screen requires two operating voltages, VDD and VCC (or VPP). Where VDD is the IC logic part of the operating voltage, usually 2.8 ~ 3.3V.

VCC (or VPP) is similar to the backlight voltage of LCD, which is used to light up the pixels.

In the power off or standby state, it is necessary to ensure that VCC (or VPP) is 0, otherwise it may generate mA level leakage current.

In particular, it is important to note that when using a DCDC structure like the one below to obtain VCC (or VPP), the CE side of the DCDC chip cannot actually make the output 0. The CE side can only be turned off so that the output VOUT = VIN. Need to turn off the power before VIN.

4、CROSSTALK

As the passive OLED is line scan voltage drive, when the line and the line of the number of lit pixel difference is relatively large, there will be some lines are brighter, some lines are darker.

There are 2 ways to solve this problem:

(1) when designing the pattern, try to use a black background with white characters will effectively alleviate.

(2) If you really want to use, you can try to reduce the screen brightness (reduce the value of the brightness register) to adjust the visual effect.

For color screens, due to the relative abundance of patterns, more likely to CROSSTALK, the same principle of design is to dark background is good.

Specifically, the display effect: background color RGB all three colors off > RGB off two colors > RGB off a color.

5、Burning Screen

Long-term display of a fixed screen, may cause residual images (often referred to as burning screen). 

Solution: Set the screen saver, so that the display content keeps changing.
