Difference between TN Glass LCD Screen and VA Glass LCD Screen

01.05.2024

There are various types of materials used in the production of LCD screens, among which TN (Twisted Nematic) LCD panels are the most commonly used. VA (Vertical Alignment) LCD panels and other materials are also used. So, what are the differences between TN screens and VA screens? Let's have LCD screen manufacturers explain:

Different Types:

VA screens, which belong to the category of wide-angle panels, are widely used in high-end LCD applications. They are commonly used for displaying code breaks, with a black background color and the option to add color silk printing for color code displays.

TN screens, on the other hand, are twisted nematic panels and are a type of screen used primarily for code displays.

Different Characteristics:

VA screens have the highest contrast ratio on the front, but the screen uniformity may not be as good, often resulting in color shifting. However, the black and white contrast is quite high.

TN screens have low production costs and are the most widely used entry-level LCD panels in applications. They are commonly found in mid-to-low-range LCD display products. The key characteristic of TN LCD screens is their fast liquid crystal molecule response time, resulting in quicker response times.

Different Viewing Angles:

VA LCD screens are theoretically full-viewing angle screens, but they may exhibit a minimal angle dead zone depending on the individual observer's angle.

TN screens have narrower viewing angles, typically around 30°, and are commonly used for simple displays such as computer monitors or clocks.

From the above comparison, we can see the differences between TN and VA LCD panels.
