Take dot matrix LCD module as an example, its display contrast as well as viewing angle are mainly affected by temperature as well as power supply, as long as we find the more suitable value of these two aspects, we can achieve the goal.
Liquid crystal materials tend to change with temperature changes, so the most basic is not to use the LCD module outside the safe temperature range. If the specified temperature range is exceeded, even just the storage stage can cause the liquid crystal to crystallize or turn into a liquid, making the molecular orientation disrupted and thus unable to display information accurately.
Temperature control should not only be reflected at the storage level, but should also be managed dynamically during use. According to past experience, the voltage should be changed by 1 volt for every 10 degree change in temperature, so a potentiometer or temperature compensation circuit should be arranged to adjust the voltage value at any time when using the LCD module.
LCD module contact power supply also has a direct relationship with its life, when the power supply should be connected to the logic power supply and then to the drive power supply, and disconnect the power supply, the drive power supply should be disconnected first after the logic power supply, which is a point that many inexperienced people tend to ignore. Do so to ensure that components are not subject to strong voltage shocks when power is turned on and off, which is the reason why many professionals use DC to DC power supply as the driver power supply. In addition, be sure to input the signal level during the power supply stability, otherwise there is a risk of damage to the IC and the circuit.
To extend the service life of the LCD module, in addition to using the proper temperature and power supply, you should also avoid the wrong operation in the process, such as connecting anyway, negative power line, this seems to be not easy to make low-level mistakes is also the main reason for the damage of the LCD module.
